Melnick 33Na: a very massive colliding-wind binary system in 30 Doradus

چکیده
We present spectroscopic analysis of the luminous X-ray source Melnick 33Na (Mk 33Na, HSH95 16) in LMC 30 Doradus region (Tarantula Nebula), utilising new time-series VLT/UVES spectroscopy. confirm Mk as a double-lined O-type binary with mass ratio $q = 0.63 \pm 0.02$, $e 0.33 0.01$ and orbital period $18.3 0.1$ days, supporting favoured from observations obtained via Tarantula -- Revealed by X-rays (T-ReX) survey. Disentangled spectra each component provide spectral types OC2.5 If* O4 V for primary secondary respectively - unusually an O supergiant exhibits strong CIV 4658 emission weak NV 4603-20, justifying OC classification. Spectroscopic favours extreme physical properties ($T_{\rm eff} 50$ kK, $\log L/L_{\odot} 6.15$) system components $M_{1} 83 19 M_{\odot}$ $M_{2} 48 11 evolutionary models, which can be reconciled results our (e.g. \sin^3 i 20.0 1.2 M_{\odot}$) if inclination is $\sim 38^{\circ}$ it has age 0.9 to 1.6 Myr. This establishes one highest systems LMC, alongside other early-type binaries Mk34 (WN5h+WN5h), R144 (WN5/6h+WN6/7h) especially R139 (O6.5\,Iafc+O6\,Iaf).

Massive stars in colliding wind systems: the GLAST perspective
Colliding winds of massive stars in binary systems are considered as candidate sites of high-energy non-thermal photon emission. They are already among the suggested counterparts for a few individual unidentified EGRET sources, but may constitute a detectable source population for the GLAST observatory. The present work investigates such population study of massive colliding wind systems at hig...
متن کاملRadio emission models of Colliding-Wind Binary Systems
We present calculations of the spatial and spectral distribution of the radio emission from a wide WR+OB colliding-wind binary system based on high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations and solutions to the radiative transfer equation. We account for both thermal and synchrotron radio emission, free-free absorption in both the unshocked stellar wind envelopes and the shocked gas, synchrotron se...
متن کاملThe colliding - wind binary WR 140 : the particle acceleration laboratory
WR+O star binary systems exhibit synchrotron emission arising from relativistic electrons accelerated where the wind of the WR star and that of its massive binary companion collide-the wind-collision region (WCR). These " colliding-wind " binaries (CWB), provide an excellent laboratory for the study of particle acceleration, with the same physical processes as observed in SNRs, but at much high...
متن کاملAn excess of massive stars in the local 30 Doradus starburst.
The 30 Doradus star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud is a nearby analog of large star-formation events in the distant universe. We determined the recent formation history and the initial mass function (IMF) of massive stars in 30 Doradus on the basis of spectroscopic observations of 247 stars more massive than 15 solar masses ([Formula: see text]). The main episode of massive star f...
متن کاملSupersonic Water Masers in 30 Doradus
We report on extremely high velocity molecular gas, up to −80 km s relative to the ambient medium, in the giant star-formation complex 30 Doradus in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), as observed in new 22 GHz H2O 616 → 523 maser emission spectra obtained with the Mopra radio telescope. The masers may trace the velocities of protostars, and the observed morphology and kinematics indicate that cu...
